ULTRACERAMIC® Redefines Magnesium – Awarded & Published in WOMAG

The article showcases a real breakthrough in lightweight materials:
👉 For the first time, 3D-printed magnesium can be reliably protected with ULTRACERAMIC®, making it suitable for demanding industrial applications.
As the lightest structural metal, magnesium has enormous potential in mobility, aerospace, medical technology, and beyond. Until now, its industrial use has been restricted by corrosion and wear.
With ULTRACERAMIC®, these limitations are overcome:
• outstanding wear and corrosion resistance
• ceramic-level hardness up to 2000 HV
• reliable protection for complex geometries and 3D-printed structures
• an environmentally friendly and scalable process
This innovation, developed within the CAMM project (Ceramic Additive Magnesium Manufacturing) together with Laser Zentrum Hannover e.V., has been honored with the German Innovation Award 2025 🏆 in the categories Material & Science and Transformative Technology.
